Park Engineering Delivers the First 747-8 Parts

Park Engineering & Manufacturing is the first Vought Aircraft Industries supplier to deliver new components for the Boeing 747-8 program. The parts - called Upper Chords, an integral part of the airframe - were precision-machined, processed and delivered on schedule.

The Boeing 747-8, called the “Intercontinental,” is an evolutionary development of the 747-400 with a lengthened fuselage, redesigned wings and improved fuel efficiency.

An Increase in Vertical Machining Capacity

Park Engineering & Manufacturing has recently acquired a new Mori Seiki DuraVertical 5100 CNC Machining Center. This state-of-the-art machine tool features a 10,000 RPM spindle, 1,000 PSI thru-spindle coolant for fast chip removal, a 2,200 lb. table capacity and a full 4th-axis Nikken rotary table. All these features mean our new machine is robust enough to handle steel and titanium, yet flexible enough for aluminum as well.

This increase in our vertical machining capacity allows us to cut more chips in less time, thereby increasing our efficiency while lowering costs and shortening lead times for our customers. Park Adds CATIA V5 CAD/CAM Software

Park Engineering & Manufacturing has recently added CATIA V5R17 to our CAD/CAM capabilities. The CATIA V5R17 software package enhances our level of collaboration with our customers, allowing for seamless integration of customer-furnished Digital Product Definitions into our engineering, manufacturing and inspection operations.

Park Engineering & Manufacturing has installed CMM-Manager™ software from Integrated Quality, Inc. CMM-Manager™ is a task-oriented, highly-intuitive integrated environment designed for one-click CAD measurements, virtual simulation, real-time verification, CAD and Datum alignment, and advanced path planning. Our new CMM software also integrates seamlessly with our Mastercam® X, Surfcam® 3D Plus and CATIA V4 and V5 CAD/CAM systems.
